Why Choose Vitalin Farmhouse Chicken for Your Dog?

If you're looking for a natural, complete dry dog food packed with real farmhouse ingredients, Vitalin Farmhouse Chicken delivers genuine nutritional value in every bowl. Built around 38% chicken — including freshly prepared chicken, dried chicken, and a rich chicken gravy — and slow-cooked with wholesome vegetables including potato, peas, carrot, and parsnip, it's a recipe that goes well beyond the basics. Added prebiotics, paraprobiotics, glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM mean every meal actively supports your dog's gut, joints, and dental health. Suitable for adult dogs of all sizes and ages, including seniors, with recyclable resealable packaging that keeps the last bowl as fresh as the first. The 12kg bag offers excellent value per kilogram — available now at Feedem with free UK mainland delivery on qualifying orders.

Key Benefits

  • High chicken content (38%) — freshly prepared chicken, dried chicken, and chicken gravy for a rich, natural flavour dogs love
  • Joint support — glucosamine (340mg/kg), chondroitin (240mg/kg), and MSM (340mg/kg) help maintain healthy, comfortable joints
  • Gut health — prebiotic FOS (chicory root), prebiotic MOS, and tyndallised Lactobacillus helveticus HA-122 (paraprobiotic) support a balanced digestive system
  • Dental health — citrus extract (0.2%) helps reduce tartar and support clean teeth naturally
  • Natural botanicals — spearmint, thyme, nettle, honey powder, and apple cider vinegar powder for a wholesome, rounded recipe
  • Omega-rich linseed — whole linseed supports healthy skin and a glossy coat
  • Recyclable resealable packaging — keeps every bowl as fresh as the first
  • Suitable for all adult breeds and seniors — one recipe for every stage of adult life

Is Vitalin Farmhouse Chicken Good for Senior Dogs?

Yes — Vitalin Farmhouse Chicken is formulated for adult dogs of every age, including seniors. The added glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM make it particularly well suited to older dogs whose joints may need extra support, while the prebiotic and paraprobiotic blend helps maintain digestive health as dogs age. If you have a senior dog with specific health conditions, always consult your vet for tailored advice.

How Much Should I Feed My Dog?

Feeding amounts vary depending on your dog's size, age, breed, and activity level. A full feeding guide is included below — as a general rule, adult dogs should be fed twice per day based on their ideal body weight, not their current weight. When switching to Vitalin, transition gradually over 5–10 days to allow your dog's digestive system to adjust. Always ensure fresh drinking water is available.

Does Vitalin Farmhouse Chicken Contain Grain?

Yes — Vitalin Farmhouse Chicken is a natural recipe that includes whole barley and oats as digestible, slow-release energy sources. These wholegrains provide sustained energy throughout the day without sharp spikes. If your dog has a grain sensitivity or intolerance, take a look at our Vitalin Grain Free Dog Food range — including the popular Vitalin Chicken with Thyme & Root Veg Adult Grain Free 12kg, which delivers a similar chicken-led recipe without any grain.

How Does Vitalin Farmhouse Chicken Support Joint Health?

Each kilogram contains glucosamine (340mg), chondroitin (240mg), and MSM (340mg) — a trio of well-established joint-support nutrients that help maintain cartilage, reduce stiffness, and support mobility. This makes Farmhouse Chicken an excellent everyday food for active adult dogs and ageing seniors alike, without the need for separate joint supplements.

What Is the Difference Between Vitalin Farmhouse Chicken and Vitalin Grain Free?

The main difference is the carbohydrate source. Vitalin Farmhouse Chicken uses whole barley and oats for slow-release energy, making it a great all-round natural recipe for most adult dogs. The Vitalin Grain Free range replaces these with potato and sweet potato, making it better suited to dogs with grain sensitivities. Both ranges share Vitalin's commitment to natural ingredients and honest nutrition.

Is There a Smaller Bag Available?

Yes — if you'd like to try the recipe before committing to the 12kg, the Vitalin Farmhouse Chicken 2kg is a great starting point, particularly for smaller dogs or households with one dog. The 12kg bag offers significantly better value per kilogram for larger dogs or multi-dog households.

What Other Vitalin Recipes Are Available?

Vitalin offers a wide range of natural recipes to suit different dogs and preferences. If your dog enjoys variety, the Vitalin Farmhouse Supper with Beef & Veg 12kg is a popular alternative with a rich beef and vegetable recipe, also available in a 2kg trial size. For something different, Vitalin Pork with Apple 12kg offers a unique flavour combination that many dogs love. For grain-free options, explore the Vitalin Lamb with Mint Adult Grain Free 12kg or browse the full Vitalin Dry Dog Food range and Vitalin Adult Dog Food collection at Feedem.

Is Vitalin a Good Dog Food?

Vitalin has been a trusted British pet food brand for decades, built on natural ingredients, honest recipes, and genuine nutritional value. The Farmhouse Chicken recipe reflects that heritage — no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives, with a high meat content and a thoughtful blend of functional ingredients including prebiotics, joint support nutrients, and natural botanicals that go well beyond basic nutrition. It's a brand that delivers real quality at an accessible price point, and the 12kg bag is one of the best-value ways to feed your dog a genuinely natural diet every day.
