Mealworm Energy Cakes That Robins, Tits & Thrushes Can't Resist — Winston Wilds 5-Pack
Inspired by nature, crafted with love, and handmade by Winston Wilds — the Mealworm Energy Cake is a premium blend of oil-rich nuts, nutritious seeds, high-energy suet, and protein-rich dried mealworms that delivers a balanced, wholesome nutritional boost for your garden birds all year long. Mealworms are one of the most sought-after natural food sources for wild birds, and by incorporating real dried mealworm pieces throughout every cake, Winston Wilds has created a feed that appeals to a far broader range of species than a plain suet or seed cake.
With added aniseed oil to aid digestion and naturally attract more birds, each 325g cake is a substantial, long-lasting feed. This 5-pack gives you a generous supply — perfect for keeping one or more feeding stations stocked, or for rotating alongside other Winston Wilds energy cake flavours.

Why Mealworm Energy Cakes?
Mealworms are one of the most sought-after natural food sources for wild birds — particularly robins, blackbirds, and thrushes, which actively forage for invertebrates in the wild. By incorporating real dried mealworm pieces throughout a high-energy suet cake, Winston Wilds has created a feed that combines the calorie density of suet with the protein appeal of mealworms — attracting species that might overlook a plain suet cake while still delivering the sustained energy all garden birds need. The mealworm content is especially valuable during the spring breeding season, when parent birds need high-protein food to raise healthy chicks.
How & Where to Feed
Place each energy cake in a dedicated energy cake feeder, set on a bird table, or place in a ground feeder tray. The mealworm content makes these cakes particularly effective on bird tables and ground feeders where robins, blackbirds, and thrushes prefer to feed. For clinging species like tits and nuthatches, a hanging energy cake feeder works best. Replace when empty or after prolonged wet weather.
Attract More Birds to Your Garden
The real mealworm content and aniseed oil make these cakes effective across a wide range of garden bird species. Regular feeding can attract robins, blue tits, great tits, coal tits, long-tailed tits, house sparrows, chaffinches, dunnocks, nuthatches, pheasants, song thrushes, woodpeckers, and blackbirds. These are some of the most protein-rich wild bird treats available for supporting a healthy, varied garden bird population.

Frequently Asked Questions
What birds do mealworm energy cakes attract?
The real mealworm content draws in robins, blackbirds, and song thrushes especially strongly. You'll also attract blue tits, great tits, coal tits, long-tailed tits, house sparrows, chaffinches, dunnocks, nuthatches, and woodpeckers. These are among the most protein-rich wild bird treats for a broad garden bird population.
What is an energy cake and how do I use it?
An energy cake is a solid suet-based feed moulded into a cake shape — denser and longer-lasting than loose suet pellets or fat balls. Place in a dedicated energy cake feeder, on a bird table, or in a ground feeder tray. The mealworm content makes these particularly effective at ground level for robins, thrushes, and blackbirds.
Are energy cakes suitable all year round?
Yes — the high-fat suet content is especially valuable in winter, while the protein-rich mealworm content is particularly beneficial during the spring breeding season. In very hot weather, place in a shaded spot to prevent the suet from softening.
What is aniseed oil and why is it added?
Aniseed oil is a natural attractant that many garden birds find appealing — it helps draw birds to a new feeder or food source more quickly. It also aids digestion, making the cake easier for birds to process alongside their natural diet.
How long will each 325g cake last?
In peak winter feeding with regular visitors, a single cake typically lasts 1–2 weeks. With 5 cakes in this pack, you're well stocked for a couple of months of consistent feeding. If you prefer a smaller quantity to start, the single 325g cake is a great way to try the range.
What are the ingredients?
Winston Wilds Mealworm Energy Cakes contain: Seed, Grains, Peanut Kibbles, Sunflowers, Raisins, Currants, Cereals, Suet, Dried Mealworms, Calcium Carbonate, and Aniseed Oil. A nutritionally complete wild bird treat with no artificial flavourings.
How should I store energy cakes?
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. In warm weather, keep indoors until needed as heat can cause the suet to soften. Replace in the feeder after prolonged wet weather to keep the cake fresh.
